RE: 30-30 question Model 94
For sure I would say its the Ranger they have in the Win. I know its a hardwood stock. I couldn' get a real good look at the Marlin. There is an ugly blank spot in the gun cabnet where the old lever guns used to hang. Drives me crazy:D I had a Marlin lever 44 Mag that shot much better that it had any right to. Three shot cloverleafs at 100 yards was normal for that gun. Of course being that good of shooter, I traded it off.[:@] I had a 357 in the same model that shot almost as well but not quite. I had a 32-20 as well. I am afraid that a 30-30 will have be in my arsonal by fall. I wonder what a good divorce lawyer costs? Compared to another gun that I don't need?

RE: 30-30 question Model 94
I hear a lot of put downs of the Model 94, and nowdays they might be deserved. The one I have was bought in 1952 or 53 by my Dad, and I think the fit and finish of mine is just fine. I have a Marlin 336, but to tell the truth the only reason I bought it was Winchester doesn't chamber for the .35 Remington, and I couldn't fine a Savage 170. [:'(]

RE: 30-30 question Model 94
Found a mid 70s production 94 in about 99% condition (one ding on the forend) for $150 in a pawn shop last month. It followed me home...

RE: 30-30 question Model 94
I might have to check out the pawn shops too.

RE: 30-30 question Model 94
Do both the Marlin and Winchesters have that ridiculous safety on them? I hunted with a Win M94 as a kid in the 50's/60's and it didn't need a safety - I don't know why the new ones do.

RE: 30-30 question Model 94
The Winchester had the tang safty. I quess the Marlin had the cross bolt safty. Totaly worthless on a visable hammer gun.[:@]

and it didn't need a safety - I don't know why the new ones do. I think tonite on 60 minutes- they will tell us how deadly the 50.cal is & how we the other 49 states need to ban them like kalifornia has[>:] |
