RE: .243 vs 6mm remington

The are few calibers with more consitant accuracy than the 22 LR, 6mm Rem. and 308 Win. My opinion between the 6mm and 243, the 6mm is more accurate than any 243 I have ever shot.

Mine were more accurate than my 243's but both are usually quite accurate.

having owned both, I will give a VERY SLIGHT edge to the 6mm. In terms of avalibility in factory loads, .243 all the way. It's like compairing a Ferrari to a Lamborghini.

1/4" in OAL is the physical difference. I have only owned one a 1966 700 ADL might have been the most accurate rifle I have ever owned. A good friend in PA owns a slightly newer model and it is deadly accurate as well

All I can say it that I sure want a 6mm in a left hand bolt action with a 26" tube!:)

Now everyone should know by now that the 243 Win is the undisputed king of cartridges. If you don't believe me just ask zrexpilot.:D

My pet caliber is a 6MM-284; which is a .284 Winchester necked down to .243. Easy to rechamber a .243 or a 6MM Remington - but it needs a 26" barrel to get the full performance level. 100 grain bullets can be propelled to almost 3500 fps safely, and 70 grain Nosler Ballistic Tips can reach almost 4,000. Barrel life is around 1,200 rounds. This a caliber with a very high level of long term customer satisfaction - at least out here in the west where shots can be on the long side. FWIW. Roskoe

Got me a small hog yesterday with my .22 hornet. didnt run an inch with a shot to the body. Funny it was quartering to me and entered exited and entered again hiting the spine on the third hole. Weird.......

If you handload, its a toss up! If you are going to be using regular ammo, 6MM are not really hard to find, but you will have a much better selection with the .243! I would not hesitate to own a 6MM again!
With good 100 gr. bullets the .243/6MM, is my minimum for deer, but a very good minimum for any Whitetail!

RE: .243 vs 6mm remington

i have owned both the 243 and 6mm which i currently do own. I have to give teh edge to the 6mm that extra 100-200fps diff makes a lil bit of a difference on long range shots. As far as actual on game damage and preformance i cant really see a difference. My 6mm is by far more accurate than my 243. the 243 with handloads would shoot inch groups my 6mm off the bench with my handloads will cut holes at 100yds as long as i do my part. I'm fairly partial of my 6mm i dont think im gona put it down here anytime soon, though i would not hesitate buying a 243 sometime. To each his own.
