single six or.40

Help! I can't decide between a Ruger Single-Six or a Llama Minimax in .40. I know they are worlds apart. I will mostly be doing target shooting and small game hunting, so the Ruger should be the natural choice, but the larger caliber has some appeal. By the way, does anybody know anything about Llama? I have heard stories about inconsistencies with their guns. The owner of the gun shop knows the previous owner of the Llama and he assured me that it is a good gun. I am pretty familiar with the quality of Ruger (10/22 and Mini 14). Any insight and help with this would be greatly appreciated.

I have owned 2 Llama's 1 ( a older 9 mm) was a junk ,the last one I got in part of a trade was a Max-I in 45 . It was a ok shooter ,not great ,but not bad.

I have a 5 1/2 " convertable single 6 .
If "I" could shoot it better ,It would be my only 22 pistol.
It is a tack driver

You got it right - some Llama's are junk. The ones I've known friends to have didn't last long.

Go with the Ruger Single-Six.

Go with the Ruger.Llama's never much of a gun.I remember them from years ago that were plain junk. The little Single Six is a great gun.

i don't know much about the llama only what i have heard. but the ruger is another story. man they are a nice little gun. i have a .22lr. - .22 mag super-six and the .22lr. shoots good enough to take a squirrel out of a tree. the .22 mag is ok but have never found the right load yet. i think you would be better off buying the ruger then saving again for the bigger caliber you are looking for. you'll never regret buying the ruger it's like money in the bank. as we say around here "it's a sure thing".:)

Thanks for the advice. The Ruger really seems to be the way to go. I guess I'll just hold out for a Colt 1911 somewhere down the road.
