.375 bullets

Does anyone know if the 200gr FN by Sierra is the lightest 375 bullet made? Any opinions appreciated. I'm thinking of loading down my 375 Hand H and wondered if there's anything out there.

It may not be the absolute lightest, but that 200-grain weight is about as low as you can go and still be shooting a bullet instead of a round ball (just kidding). However, 200 grains is about as low as you can go and still have a practical weight in that large a bore size. The sd of this bullet is only .203 - even less than a 150 in .30 caliber.....

It is the lightest that I have ever seen. I would quess you could find or cast a cast bullet a bit lighter. It may not however be very usefull. You could use the 235 grain Barnes X bullet which can be loaded down to about 2500 fps. My cast bullet manual does not show any lighter bullets. If you don't have load data for the Barnes bullet, I have it here somewhere.

JamesB,
I have been using 73-74 grains of IMR4320 with the Sierra FN 200 grainer. It gives about 3000fps. I just thought I remembered a 180 out there somewhere.........Just a plinking round anyway..:D

I hope you don't plan to hop it up and use it on big game animials.

DM,
Absolutely not! I'm just using these for plinking. I love shooting the rifle but my 300gr loads get a little much after ten or fifteen rounds. :(

I was just checking Midway. The lightest thing they list is a 210 grain X Bullet.

JamesB,
I hadn't heard of that one. Forgot to check the Barnes site. After checking it, that 210 has a better sd than the 200FN. The 210gr X FB could be just the ticket. Thanks JB.:D
