Actually i put a red dot on my mossberg 500. I haven't sighted it in yet however.

RE: Couple of shotgun questions
You have the right idea. Start kind of short, and make any necessary corrections. Then move the target back, like another 10 yards. And then see where you are at. Good luck.

using a rest or shooting off hand?

RE: Couple of shotgun questions
I shoot a mossberg 500 as well. Try out a few different loads at different ranges. When you put in the turkey choke you will see a huge difference. Using a Mad Max 2, I was able to get all the pellets (#5 shot) in a 1 inch circle at 15 yards, and with a 8"x8" square at 40 yards. I have had success with the 3" Winchester Super X turkey loads (#4,#5 shot). The Remington High Velocity loads are nice too.

RE: Couple of shotgun questions
im using a rest, and the reason i was using the full choke to get it started was bc of the cost of the shells and i just wanted to get it close and after shes where i wanna her ill switch tubes and see what ive got.
