Steyr Pistols

Anyone have any experience with these? i am looking at this model in 9mm auto. For the price it seems like a good buy.. Any other suggestions in this price range? Model is M9

The M40 is a decent pistol. It holds pretty nicely and the triangle/trapezoid sights are very easy to align. The only problem I had with it is some jamming using cheaper ammo. Remington/UMC 180 gr. MCs jammed it so badly that I had to pry the slide back to unchamber the round. Now I stick with Winchester FMJs and Federal Hydra-Shok JHPs for target practice and defense. Haven't had a jam in over 1,200 rounds.

A friend has the M9 and hasn't had a single problem with it, though. He's fed cheap and expansive brands through it in 115, 124, and 147 gr. loads.

The price is hard to beat for a pistol of that quality, and the only other brand close to that price range I would consider is Ruger, or possible Springfield if you're willing to go a little higher.

I too have an M40 and like the way it points and shoots. I shoot my own handloads out of it and have no trouble with jamming or stove piping. I am looking for a laser sight for it though as I stated in my own post.
I opted for the 40 S&W over the 9mm for a bit more punch and the M40 recoil is minimal.
