GoingGear.com - 17 Firesteel Sizes, 18 Firesteel Handle Options
Well, I started my business with firesteels, so I figure they are best items to start my product intros on HuntingNet!
If you are not familiar with a firesteel, they are like a modern update to a flint. Sparks don't come off the rods as much as molten globs of metal that will burn for a second or two. If they get wet, just wipe them off and you are good to go. Just about any sharp edge works and you just need a hard, fast scrape to get them going. I've used knife spines, Swiss Army knife awls and files, hacksaw blades, and many other things with no problems. Once you get the proper technique down, you will have no issues quickly and easily starting a fire. Here are a couple videos that show the proper technique and how to use them with various tinders: Mischmetal Firesteel Technique Using a Firesteel with Various Tinders I have the blank rods in 17 different sizes, more than anywhere else you will find. Blank Firesteel Rods I also have 18 different handle options. 15 different hardwood handles, one capsule handle, and two one handed firestarters from Ultimate Survival. Firesteel Handle Options |
