ok i'm going to have a fishing contest with my friend and i can only use jigs and soft plastics (tubes,lizards,worms,ect) and my friend can use crankbaits and top waters do you guys think i can win it will be in may when the season first starts or do you have any tips or tactics for me any thing is good i sure need it but i got the edge because i taught this person how to fish but not every thing lol :D

I would say in May in Wisconsin, you will most likely beat him because they will be spawning and you can bounce a lizard or something through the nests.

You got it easy. I could fish soft plastics year round and win that contest. some form of soft plastics will always catch fish in Wisconsin. you're looking at spawning fish. i'd rather fish in april and hit them in the pre spawn when you can slaughter them. just find the staging areas that lead to the spawning beds and fish both them and the beds. should have a quick limit fishing a tube or lizard, maybe a worm. fish slow, dont go too fast. pitch a jig with pork or a texas rigged tube around the beds and around the staging areas and this should be an easy one to pull off.

if i were you i would get a 4 inch tube and hop it about 3 inches off the bottom.
unless you suck you should win the contest.

me and my friend now are making it a pike tourny too so i can only use bucktails and spinnerbaits and soft plastics and he can use cranks and top water and live bait any suggetstions or can i win :)
