Hows the Walleye fishing?

Caught some nice ones out of the Allegheny River this past week. That's right, none of that boring ice fishing stuff.

Well, I tried to upload some pix, but you're only allowed 100kb, my smallest was 120kb,so... I have no proof of fish,uh..sorry:(

Sheesh,I have open water just below the Kinzua Dam, that's where I've been catching 'em.

BTW, hows the catfish fishing on the big "S"?

Good channel catties & Walleys, Musky's not to good any more, small mouth is good.

RE: Hows the Walleye fishing?

We really whack the smallmouths in summer, great muskie, real good trout and excellent for eye's.Pretty much have it all, with exception on big cats, they're there, but not as common as the rest i just mentioned.Or, maybe I jst don't know how to fish 'em---;)

The In-fisherman had a Musky special about 2 or 3 years ago located about 3 miles south of my house.Did real good trolling for 'em.

This better than AR, I use big shinners during the day and night crawlers at night most of the time it works.

RE: Hows the Walleye fishing?

I agree about AR--:D

I've been catching them by slow retreiving a jig with a neon Powerbait curly, and when they're really aggresive, nothing beats a Rapala.

How big(as far as kb) was that pic you posted?

Anyone have any walleye luck at Mauch Chunk Dam in Jim Thorpe? I've been fishing that all my life and haven't pulled out a wally yet. I hear they're in there though........

Can't say I've heard of the place, where abouts is it located?

I will say that they stock the Allegheny with 'eyes, something about how they raise and lower the river level so much that it has a negative impact on spawning.

Sounds like you guys are doing better than we did in Lake Erie last year. Walleye fishing has been pretty bad the past couple years. Perch fishing has been tremendous though

I thought Erie was the place to be for Walleyes.

They catch real beauties on TV-----[8D]

They have been doing pretty good on the Ohio side near Sandusky, but around Erie its been poor the past couple years. Only a few straglers (sp)

I caught 15 Thursday evening on the Potomac River, one went 25"+, rest were on the small side. Went back Frinday night caught 2, yesterday evening caught 1. The rain last night should have brought the water up a bit, tonight my be a good night for em.
