crappie help
 

i'm 14 and i've been fishing since i was 4 but i never really caught a lot of crappie except for one year at spawing time so if you guys could help me i mostly fish at a natural lake in my home stat of wisconsin and it has under water weeds and some lilly pads by the boat landing the lake is small but gets about 50 feet at the deepest there is good fishing off the bank but you can only use a trolling motor if you use a motor and there are a lot of springs and two creeks running out of it and i has one spot with a sunken tree that fell into the water and i got some small crappie toobs but any info is great. thank you all for your time.

The best way it to use minows and a bobber. slip bobbers are the best use you can fish deep right off the bank. You can allso do very good with crappie jigs my best jig is shartuse tail with red body.You can allso fish the jigs with a bobber.If the lake is a cleer watter lake you will need to use 6# line or less to do real good.

In the spring the crappie will go on nest to lay eggs. this is done in shallow whatter normaly with some kind of cover.[ trees lillys weed lines in watter]even dockes can be good.This is the best time to get big numbers.You will be fishing very shallow whater like 12in to 4 foot.

any obstruction on the bottom, like the fallen tree, is a good spot ..the best bait to use is missouri minnows..i don't use a bobbber unless i'm fishing with more that one pole. you can throw a bale of hay in the pond and the fish will cover it..I live on the St. Johns river in central fl., some of the best speck(crappie to some) fishing in the country and right now they are biting like crazy..a lot of 12-13 inchers have been caught, that's a nice fish..good luck

Fish the shallows on the north side of the pond in the spring for the spauners. I like a fixed bobber with a 1 1/2" tube (red and white) about 3-4' under it. In summer they will be at a drop off but you will need a boat. I like to catch them in the winter through the ice. Use a small chartreuse jig tipped with a wax worm or maggots.
