Have never owned one-have around $750 to spend-what would you recommend?

RE: Fish Finders
You don't need to spend that much to get a pretty good unit. The color models are up around $400-500 and more and the GPS combo fish finders start at around your price range. I don't know what type of boat you have or the type of fishing you want it for. I have a bass boat and use a Lowrance X55A which does the job for me. Other good manufactorers are Eagle (a subsidiary of Lowrance), Humminbird, Bottom Line and Garmin.

RE: Fish Finders
Last year i bought me a new lowrance X125 black and white model, its a great fishfinder for the money, its got 480x480 pixels. that one cost me about $300 bucks.
I can pick up bottom hugging walleye's great with it. i only wish the screen was a tad bigger but all in all, its a sweet unit, i would reccomenend it to anyone. go on lowrance's website and you can demo the units right there online. |
RE: Fish Finders
I think you are way better with a finder/GPS . I do not use my fish finder much I use my GPS a ton. I did use my finder a lot now that I have the points and piles marked I dont use the finder much. If I went to a new lake I would use mostly the finder.
If you use your boat to find the good spots then mark them you can use the same waypionts to go ice fishing :} |
