I Just Joined B.A.S.S.!!!
 

Alrighty, I finally sucked it up and dished out my $12 for a B.A.S.S. membership. <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle> I am SO excited I can hardly wait for my 'membership package' to arrive (man I sound like such a dork!)

I'm sure there are other B.A.S.S. members on the board, any thoughts or comments?

According to the web site for the $12 membership fee (one year intro rate) you receive 11 issues of the Bassmaster Magazine, decals, patches and a membership card, rental car discounts, a 'boat theft reward', and other advantages like eligibility to sign up for tour events. They are also throwing in a Bassmaster cap (can't pass that up! <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>) I think you get everything that comes with a standard membership, but at the new member rate. Hey Chick,
Welcome to Bass. I have been a member since 1971. I grew up in Montgomery and was one of the early members. The home office is in Montgomery and I got to fish Ray Scotts pond several times. The best thing about belonging to bass is you can fish with the pro's. All you have to do is apply for the amature slots and get your name drawn. I have fished a couple of them and have learned a ton. Last year there was a 14 yearold young ladie who fished as an amature and did well. Hope to see you on the podeem some day holding a big ole bass.

It's good to hear from some veteran BASS members. I was sort of worried that it would turn out to be one of those elitist fishing clubs where you have to own a top-of-the-line bass boat and use specially crafted Roland Martin lures while fishing for your 17th 15lb bass in a row.
AGGGHH!! The Lunker Club!!!!?? I <font face='Impact'>must</font id='Impact'> make it onto the Lunker Page!!!!! Have you guys ever had your pix posted?
Yeh, I read about fishing with the pros and I'm kind of excited about that. Feels sort of larger than life, although I'd probably become ultra-shy and and say dorky things like 'wow, big fish.' <img src=icon_smile_shy.gif border=0 align=middle>

Sixpoint, a native Alabamian? I was born in Birmingham and aside from my immediate fam, everyone else lives over there. Might explain my lust for fishing even in Orange Cunty, CA!

Hey Chick,
I have never hit the lunker club either. I have caught three bass over 10 lbs though.I lived in Southern Cal. for years in the eighties and caught a 16.6 lb bass in lake Casetis in 87. Took her pic and let her go. Thats the time when all thought the next world record would fall soon. Also fished Hodges and Castaic a good bit. I lived in Redondo Beach.

My other two came from Greenwood lake in South Carolina which is where I moved when I left Cal. They were 10.2 and 11.5. I also released them thinging I had they big fish thing figured out. Largest since then....maybe seven pounds or so.

Remember they have excellent replicas now so take your pic. Measure your fish and let the lovely ladies go. Unless its a world record...then its a diffrent ball game.

Join a local federated bass club and let me see ya on the podeum chick.

Funny that you mention Castaic. My fishing bud and I are trying to plan a day trip up there. Glad to hear there are some big 'uns out here. I also appreciate your thoughts on the areas you fished while in SoCal. I've been looking to change my venue and I will check out the spots you mentioned.
Also, I'd love to see your 16.6 pounder. If you can post the pix, please do!

ALRIGHT a female fisherman.. or fishing lady.... anywayz... my gpa and cuzin are members of bass... im poor, i'd rather buy a $100 reel and rod hehe. i just flip through their magazines whenever im over at their houes. i thought about subscribing to some sort of magazine. hmmm i need a job.
