walleye help needed!
 

There is this lake where I live, and a local university (Cornell) has a fish wildlife program, they have stocked this lake with over 2 million walleyes in the last 2 years, the first year they were just fingerlings, then last year they stocked it with 5 to 9 inch walleyes, the lake is only 26 feet deep at it's deepest point, not alot of structure, some weeds, mostly shale bottom, and some gravel, a friend has never cought any in this lake, he says he don't know how to fish for them, he can locate and catch bass in a rain puddle, my question is how do we catch these walleyes, any info would be much appreciated. I thank you in advance.

I'd try a jig or worm harness with a night crawler or leach trailer. Just bounce it off the bottom at first. If no luck, move up a little. Keep trying till you find the depth they're hitting.

In smaller lakes, sometimes drop-offs and ledges will hold as many fish as cover.

No, the lake Iam referring to is Cayuta lake, also known as little lake. although Onidea lake is well known for there walleye, I for one am not to fond of that lake, my family as I was growing up had a house on the lake, just down from Sylvan (sp) Beach, never cought many walleye there either,
Charile P, with a stright shot from 17 you could be here in 30min, you are more than welcome to come along and show us how to catch them. I just can't seem to find the little suckers. The DEC did a schock test on the lake and claims the average walleye is 19 to 22 inches with an average weight of 5 lbs. I would love to get some of them,

I don't know this for a fact but I've heard that stocked walleyes usually relate to weed lines. What I would do is troll a rapala (color depends on available forage) near the weedline and you should be able to catch a few. Sunrise and Sunset should be your best times but some fish should be present all day.

Went out last night, fished from around 8:30pm to 1:00am and nothing not even a bass, had a few hits, we where useing shinners, and glowgreen nightcrawlers, the fish finder showed fish under the boat, off to the sides but never cought a walleye, whats up with that? we fished in all depths from 8ft to 26ft, the lake is a gradule incline from 1foot to 26 feet, not any structure, some good weedlines, very few drops, and only two points, should I stick to the weed lines? What do you all think? Thanks

On the Whitney point resevior we have had great success using crayfish crankbaits slow trolled about 150 ft behind the boat.You might want to try this or casting crankbaits along the weed lines.

Oneida lake we use walking sinkers on a soft floating jig head on a drift.

Susquehanna river casting jigs with worms this time of year and minnows in the fall until ice up.

Many pro's troll at pretty quick speeds until the find active fish and then find the right presentation.

There is no size restrictions on boats, I wouldn't recamend anything to large, we use a 18ft autoglass Bass boat with a 115h merc, I have seen some good sized boats on there, your average fishing boat works just fine. Man, I'm starting to get frustrated. I know their in the freaking lake, I just cant seem to find them. you guys have been great help, I really appreacite the info your giving me, Please keep it comming. Thanks!!
