hot weather
any advice on catching warm weather bass
|
RE: hot weather
If you fish a lake...fish around docks or sturcture. In rivers..fish the current. The water in the current is usually cool. The fish are usually spooky in the river, so you will have to keep a low profile when sneaking up to the riffels

RE: hot weather
Fishing lakes and ponds in the summer gets harder as the sun gets higher.I like to get as far off the bank with my Tracker as possible, just far enough to reach the bank with a crawl tube and bring her in slowley across the bottom to the boat.Dropshotting works good too.Water temp is the main factor here, its called the thermocline,if you can find it, thats where the fish will be most of the time.Otherwise what Bassman says works great at dusk with a popper or a topwater lure.

Fish after sunset with jitterbugs or other topwater noise making lures.

RE: hot weather
Last Saturday morning I started fishing top water and I cought a few nice 3-4 pounders using a Devil's Horse. Also have a Dying flutterer which is basicly the same thing that works good also. They are stick baits with props on both ends. I tried using a jitterbug but was almost attacked by a three foot gator! Seems like a jitterbug is good bait for gators, so word to the wise, dont use one if your near gators!
After the sun comes up good, go with deep running cranks baits along drop offs. Or Carolina rig the biggest worms you can find. |
