caught him on a 1/2 ounce chartreuse/black jighead tipped with 3" mister twister exude grub in chartruese also, and again i will say the pic quality is iffy, and it is light colored cause it is a lake erie run walleye. I couldnt afford to have it mounted:(wish i could have.

Thats a beauty. For eating though I'd rather have four 3 pounders.
Are the salt docks near Windsor? Were you near Belle Island or Peche Island?

Here is the one Carp missed Ice fishing on Saginaw Bay last winter. It was 32" and just over 10 pounds, it was also a male. I thought it was very nice of him to let me have it :D. It is the biggest walleye I have ever cought and it is going on the wall.

RE: 8mm-06

You fish down there much????? Also was wondering if you really shoot an 8mm - 06???

8mm/06 06-24-2004 09:51 PM

RE: 8mm-06

Yep...I do shoot an 8mm/06.....not much these days as I'm needing to load up a bunch.also need to get some work done on it...broken screw on the receiver sight, and am getting a price on drilling and tapping it for a scope (the eyes are going).....and am then going to dual pillar bed it and finish the free float I started 5 years ago.
Re: the Walleye fishing on the Detroit River....I was introduced to it about 17 years ago by a river-rat who mostly enjoyed hand-lining with the old spring loaded gunwale reels......He knew a run in front of the Detroit Yacht Club on the West (north) side of Belle Island......and he really knew it. He also showed me around the jig fishing around Peche island and off the cans (bouys upstream from there. He has taken me for smallies all over the river, especially where it meets Lake St. Clair. We always went for bait on the Canadian side though!
Haven't been since last year though..because of health reasons he's going to have to give up his slip off Alter Rd. in Detroit. Bummer for me.

RE: det river

Walleye fishing ther in the spring is quite a trip, we have caught hundreds of eyes jigging them in the last 3 years ive been doing it. Catch smallies, suckers, musky, carp, salmon, perch too never know whats down there!!!!! As far as the 8mm 06 that is cool i really like the 8mm cartridges but wish there was more out there about them and a better bullet selection, i shoot a custum 8x57 and love it!!!!
