RE: Sharpening Blades
I would either take them to a idustrial sharpener or buy replacements. I have tried sharpening both my power auger and friends hand balmers, just can't get the right angle or edge to do a good job. I have done it both ways and was much happier with the results.

I keep a new pair with me all the time
The best way I found to sharpen those blades are to take them to work and put them on my surface grinder. I can zero in the angle of the blade on my surface plate and dial indicator. Then clean them up on the surface grinder. Other wise the blades just don't seem to cut right. I never had any luck trying to sharpen them by hand.

trail i just take a the same type of a file that i sharpen our power saw chains with. I did this for a number of years and it seemed to work okay but i ended up just buying new blades this year.
