favorite flys.........
 
whats some of everyones favorite flys for little trout when nothings really hatching??? i plan to learn to flyfish this year for trout and fish native trout streams and also some stocked streams.....but i want to catch trout on flys...besides imitators....what else do you guys carry? nymphs streamer attractors ect........im working on building a few good fly boxes so im ready......thanx alot

My choice for best alrounder is Hare & Copper nymph, either Beadhead or plain.
Although I live in New Zealand, our stream insect life is very similar to yours. (Caddis, Mayfly, Stonefly etc.)
Not all Trout are selective feeders. Open them up and you'll sometimes find a wide variety of feed.
Often they'll have a go at something that bears no resemblence to any natural feed source.
Try experimenting with different colours.
And remember don't give up on a fish, if he isn't spooked, and is actively feeding, keep trying different patterns.
