Drop Shot

Anyone out there have luck with using the drop-shot rig? I haven't used it yet, but I intend to at my bass tournament in April. Seem like an interesting set up. I'm also going to use more trick worms (weightless). First time for that as well.

Hi !
I used to fish tournaments and drop shot rigs were on the menu. The whole trick is to not overwork the bait, just vibrate the rod tip a little, and GENTLY lift the rod tip to feel any weight change. Light hooksets. I do feel a trick worm could be a bit large for this finese technique, and maybe you might want to try a four to six inch worm in either junebug or motoroil. Both have been very productive for me, in fact between using a drop shot rig, or a Charlie Brewer Spider head jighead with a four to six inch worm won several Buddy Tournaments for my son and I.

Hope this has been helpful for you....GOOD LUCK!!!

Thanks. I'm looking forward to trying it. I usually use 12 lb fluorocarbon leaders, but i'm switching to 8 lb for the drop shot rig. I also have some four inch flat worms to throw on there.
