Been doing lots of bass fishing..I got this speck/crappie in January..but I bass fish once a week and generally get blessed. I keep the ones I catch but don't overstock my freezer. I felt guilty ripping them up and throwing them back. I fish when I need a fish fry which is about every 10 days..Most run into the 2 pound range..I let the big ones go back..Legally you can only keep one over 16 inches where I fish.

I was out 2 days ago and hopefully again on Tuesday.. I caught 4 largemouths in around 45 minutes plus lost 2 and caught a smallmouth.. I never had much time to fish and was mainly giving the boat a good run before work.. I caught them in the St. Croix River in which the state wants everyone you catch culled as they were illegally introduce. The St.. Croix.. has Atlantic Salmon in it and they feel the largemouths are a threat to them and all other fish in the watershed.. The ones I had caught was around 15 to 16 inches.. But some are getting caught by others in the 22 to 24 inch range.. It has only taken them 4 years to expand a long ways threw out the river..

Hey Phil...Matt and I went out bass fishing this morning..I keep some of them for food. I caught a nice 3.95 pounder..and 4 others..When I went to put a 1 1/2 pounder in the cooler the big one jumped out LOL oh well..Good seeing you again..Hope your feeling good.

I have been feeling alright C7 but still get run down easily .. I am heading back out shortly to try my luck again for a while. I am hoping that I can still get my boat across a narrow section in that old railroad bed. They have been getting some largemouths in the 5 to 6 pound range in certain areas. I am not so sure how I will do as it is quite windy here for the open waters that I will be fishing in. There are also going to shock most the river today. A guy from the mill will be with the Feds and said he will let me know what they find out. They will be doing this for at least a couple of days..

Good to see you bro Chuck; I'm a bass fishermen but on occasion I'll sit on the dock at my lake house and stock up on crappie for my freezer. Hard to beat crappie in the skillet.
