Cheap & ez rod rack.
1 Attachment(s)
I keep just shy of 3 dozen rod/reel rigs in a spare room of my home. After years of them scattered & leaning here & there I saw pics of a rod rack online & a light came on in my head. (maybe a candle or nightlight if you asked my wife! ) I didn't like any commercial racks for multiple reasons like expense, not big enough, didn't allow easy access etc... So when I started making this, I was able to "answer my concerns".
I started out with a 1"x8"x8' pre-sanded-primed board, four 6"x10" metal wallshelf brackets, 1.5" ID pvc cut into 6" sections & screws. I drilled the tubes on drill press & smoothed them on a belt sander then painted all of it brown. I already had the pvc & screws lying around so I've got less than $20 in the whole shebang. My main concern was spacing the rods 6" apart so I could remove them without tangling with other rods/reels & I staggered the back row from the front so I can "reach thru" without tangling or hanging ANYOTHER rigs. If you don't need this much capacity then you could put the pvc tubes on only one side & mount the board on a wall. (I prefer to store my rigs inside vs the garage so they don't get dusty & the line stays out of sunlight & stays in climate control) 1st pic "in the raw" |
