Default Do You Remember Your First Baitcaster Reel?

Mine was a Shimano Bantam B-100 Mag
I used it so much I wore the bearings out.
It still works, just has bearing rattle.

O.K. what was your first Baitcaster reel?

I learned when I was 10-11yrs old (1981-82) via my Gdads ol ABU 5000 & 5500s, a few Shimano Bantams & Diawa Magforces. The first I actually bought for myself was a Ryobi Vmag 4 when I was probably 12yrs old, I want to say I paid $40-$50 for it. Used it 2 seasons & the levelwind pawl wore enough to cause problems, only I didn't know what a levelwind pawl was at the time so I panicked & sold it for $10!

1960 Pal reel for child. I was 6 years old. Had nylon string..what a trip. Lol In my day a Zebco 202 was the way to go...Serious fishermen back then used Garcia Mitchells. Later on came the Ambassadors. I never owned decent fishing eqipment until I was in my 20s..

1960's it was a Bronson level wind. Also a Shakespeare. They landed a lot of pike walleye and musky.

Mine was an old Abu Garcia from about 87. I actually still have it in a drawer somewhere. Not sure that I will ever use it again but just can't seem to get rid of it!

bought an abu-5000 in 1980, still have it today, replaced the drag washers, and the handle, besides cleaning and lube, and fresh line 2-3 times a season it still runs like new.
have 12-15 other casting and conventionals up to 9/0 in size, the only way to fish.

Wow great thread. Mine was an abu. I saved my chore money up when I was 12 and ordered it through the Bass Pro Shop catalog. I felt like such a grown up filling out that order slip, and then seeing a box come in the mail with my name on it. Man what memories.
