I went out on Lake Conroe yesterday with Mr. Taylor, a fellow fisherman from another board. We fished from shallow to around 10 feet and did pretty good. He schooled me on numbers pulling in 7 to my 2, but we had a good time and the weather was nice.
Water temp around 62, no clouds, wind from the north with a slight chop on the water. My largest came off a brushpile in about 9 FOW while most of the other fish came from shallow water close to drop offs.
Mr. Taylors big'un

Me trying to make a 1 look like a 10, HA!

My big'un

Lures: 1.5's, 2.5's and Jigs

Definitely long arming it haha. I was trying to make a tiny fellow look huge because I see so many people trying to make 1's look like 10's and it always makes me laugh. A bass, big or small, is always impressive to me, no need to make it bigger than it really is

This looks like your best year so far Gangly..I'm happy for ya partner..You can certainly learn alot from others..Probably the best secret I learned last year..was when you flip...reach in about 3 more feet...farther than what you normally flip...
AND ....DD crankbaits IS A BIG FISH LURE...until last year I rarely used a crankbait..NOW..I take a crankbait rod and reel on every trip and it stays ready to fish EVERY sand bar I approach.
I still HOLD TO to putting worm rattles in the worm..I beleive with DATA that they generate alot more hits and...hang on hits..Black is my all time color..period..I also HOLD TO to using a red split shot as my Texas Rig weight..I believe it's 5/16th ounce...I spray paint them red
These 2 rigs have caused me much success and money in my pocket...The red causes aggression and the BB split shot brings a nice slow presentation..I use the DD14 Bill Norman...awesome wobble and digs in the dirt nicely..keeps a nice straight retrieve as well.
