Lost a MONSTER today..

I'm in a hurry so got to cut it short..To get a fair review I was drifting both rods at the same time...That helps one get a true non bias review..

Well, the wind turned the boat around..and I was doing something with Gloomis and my Fenwick was casted out .'Dead Sticking' ...I went to reel in the Fenwick { Gloomis laying across my lab..} and the Fenwick appears hung up on a rock..Duh..:bash:
we have very few rocks where I fish at.....so the rod is pointed directory at the rock at southward...but my boat is drifting northward..Then the rock appeared to be moving as I was trying to pull the worm free of the 'Rock'

Then CRACK like a 22 rifle..line sliced into my index finger draling blood..The finned hotwater heater like animal shot off like a rocket ...line broke off at the reel...causing me to have to respool..

Not sure what it was ..could be a 12 plus or soft shelled turtle..They get big here..

man, great short story but sorry to hear that you lost a potentially nice fish. You'll get him next time around though Chuck. Good Luck!

it was where you caught your dink...out there in the middle..that's where the best fishing was today...

I am sorry to hear about you slicing your finger.. I guess you will need to be more carefull the next time.. Now shooting off like a rocket does not sound like any turtle I know of.. So most likele a big fish had you hook in it.. Good Luck next time.

We have a weird looking turtle..I caught one last year..and lost a huge one last week..they look like weird..and very big..

Wiki said our male soft shells get up to 10 pounds and the females 95 pounds..I'm 90 percent sure it was a huge female soft shell..

I was yanking on it a good 10 seconds before it moved..they can move those paddle like feet fast...I've hooked big bass as well...and it is possible..if it was- bass..she would have made the record books, lol
