Default New Toy!

I picked up a new toy and I'm pretty excited about it. For the longest time I have wanted one and I was finally able to get one so I did.

Its a Humminbird 798ci SI unit with Side Imaging, internal GPS and mapping. I will be getting a Navionics chip for it shortly but until then I will be using the mapping software installed by Humminbird.

I am still in the process of installing it (a real P.I.T.R. running the wires through the hull) so I havent tried it out yet but I hope to have it ready by this weekend when I take the wife and kids tubing. I'll try to take some screen shots of it while Im out and post the images if I can.

Dang guys, I'm super excited about this and cant wait to see what structure and cover i can find. Hopefully I can find a bunch more brush piles that I wasnt aware of and increase my catch rate.

That is awesome. Good luck with it.

I have watched many anglers prefishing for tournaments never pick up a fishing pole, rather they drive around for hours finding structure. I have never used side imaging electronics but hope to soon!

Very cool. I almost bought a small one for my kayak if for nothing else just to know what depth I am in. That will do sooooo much more!

Thats awesome but for me the humminbirds were too complicated so I got a lowrance. Both are very good units and are very usefull when finding fish and structure in deeper water well worth the money if you ask me.

Wow, that thing is sweet! That side imaging is some amazing stuff. Very cool how it shows the detail of the structure like that. How deep of water will that side imaging work? Also would like to know what you think of the navionics chip. I have a lakemaster chip in a little handheld and love the thing. Can't imagine how i ever fished without it!
Bh, i hear ya about the tournament guys, took the kids out yesterday and there was a ton of em on the lake prefishing for a tourny this weekend, of all the boats i seen only maybe 3 guys with a rod in their hand. The rest were just zig zagin around with the trollin motors.
