Chuck7 12-21-2011 01:29 PM

My bedroom is filled with tackle...I know if I didn't do this tourney..I'd fish a lot less. I'm getting old and lazy..so one selfish reason was to motivate me to get out on the water.Also, there is much trouble in our world these days..this can help us get our minds off the recession and enjoy God's creation. Our deer season ends Jan. 1st..so after that I'll be looking for BIg Bertha..I'm excited about the compitition this year. This should be one of our best tourneys ever..Matt has his own boat this year so he will try harder as well.

I've got one more week to try and ambush this ole boy.

Gangly 12-22-2011 07:10 AM

Now thats a scrape!

Chuck7 12-22-2011 07:45 AM

no sir..that's a rub [ -;

Gangly 12-22-2011 08:45 AM

I apologize, I use the term loosely and I shouldn't :)

Chuck7 12-22-2011 03:23 PM

no problem { -;
Have a great day.
C7

buckhunter14 12-23-2011 02:28 AM

Chuck, have you guys had some flooding or do you think the buck did that rub in the water like that? Cool picture.

Chuck7 12-23-2011 07:21 AM

This is normal Buckhunter14..the Green Swamp looks like this all the time. I just got done hunting/scouting..I went back to this area and found a cypress dome that the bucks use often..The trouble is ..all the trees are in there like sardines and the biggest trees are about the diameter of big zuchinii squash. I looked till I found one that was about 8 inches across..I found one such tree ..that wasw it.I'm all set and plan to sit ..probably tomorrow all day. I won't be able to get high so I'll be cammoed up...I'll fasten my bike pack to the front of my Summit stand to keep movement to a minimum..carry 2 waters, thermo cell for the mosquitoes { Yep they are still out here in FL} and my New Test. and try to sit ALL day..I know there are 2 nice bucks in this area.

Here;s a cypress dome,,

In this habitat I use a 30-30 Marlin with Tru Glo sites..The shot will be quick. Must be paying attention..also becareful with panthers, moccassins and gators..never a dull moment.LOL

buckhunter14 12-23-2011 10:48 AM

In years past, the tournament is just about getting out on the water and posting pictures of our catches.

Had a GREAT afternoon Fishing trip. I caught a 7 pounder, a 4 1/2, a 3, and several smaller fish! Tried a new tactic and it definitely paid off for me. Catching that big bass took awhile to get in but it had my heart racing haha. Here are some pictures of my 7 pounder.

Went out for a few hours this afternoon and got only one bite, but I boated it and it turned out to be a nice 6 1/2 pounder. So the trip wasn't completely wasted. This fish will put me up to 13 1/2 pounds... Getting closer to the top haha.

Today I got a 8 1/2 pounder to replace my 5 1/2. I'm surprised I am up to 15 1/2 pounds now when last year I had maybe two pounds for the tournament haha. Good afternoon fishing.

Phil from Maine 08-19-2012 12:12 PM

A 2 and a 1/4 lb. largemouth.. 14 1/2 inches long..

Chuck7 08-19-2012 01:34 PM

Fat fish..I remember catching a 2 pounder 14 inches when I was about 8 years old...I didn't catch a bigger bass until I was in my late 20s. When I moved to FL in 1981 I began to catch serious bass...

Phil from Maine 08-22-2012 10:11 AM

1lb smallmouth..From Pocomoon shine Lake..

Another 1lb smallmouth from the St. Croix River Flowage..

Fun tournament this year guys! Still pulling for someone to weigh-in a big one this evening. Wish I have been fishing more, but been scouting for our upcoming goose season. Really looking forward to my upcoming bass classic on September 15th with the circuit I fished this year. Could be some big weights on one of my big fish lakes off Lake Michigan!
