lures????
 

I've been brought up typically fishing with a worm on a hook, casting and letting it sit 'till a fish hits it. Some days were very dull. What kinds of baits or lures would help attract a fish to bite the line? What are spinner baits and lures used for? What lures would work well for the Walleye run up the Maumee River, or catching any fish actually. All I've ever been shown was the sit and wait, and cast/reel in gig for waleyes. Sit and wait I've always used wormed or minnows, even crickets sometimes. For casting and reeling it's always been plastic/rubber worms. I'm looking for something new and hopefully more fun that sitting for hours waiting for the rod tip to wiggle. Please throw out anything ya got! Thanks and God bless.

I usually use a contrasting colored trailer to slow the fall rate, in cooler weather. Usually use no trailer in warm weather. Trim weed gaurds even with hookpoint and work them with fingers, to get some of the stifness out of them. I also trim the skirt right behind the hook.

The important thing is to "match the hatch". Choose lures that resemble forage native to the water you are fishing and that are available during the season you are fishing in.
