College classes started back up for me this week. One of my largest goals to date (to graduate college in 4 years) is almost accomplished. Haven't been out fishing much, but hopefully will get out later this afternoon. Thought I would add a few photographs to the board of what I have experienced lately.

Experimented with Drop-Shottin' for the first time. Looking forward to it early next year before a ton of weed growth. Might have to fish some rock-bottom lakes to have a little more success with it. Overall, I like the idea and caught a few decent fish on it (although illegal in some lakes I fish).

Bluegill / Bream have really become active with the cool nights and are plentiful and BIG!




Got this guy on Trail Camera too. Not the biggest in the woods I hunt by any means, but sure like his third main beam...


All right here in Northern Michigan.

nice fish and unique buck for sure. hopefully he grows a little more before they harden, but darn nice. If they don't get him this year, he might be a very nice bruiser next year that would be a wonderful deer to take.

Help me here, are you saying the drop shot is illegal in some lakes up there? WHY?

NO WAY could I live up north, "bass season" and now they want to tell you what lures you can and CAN'T use? ONLY thing I see up there worth it is the bigger deer! :biggrin:

Drop-shotting is not illegal, the method of having weights (splitshot, lead, tungsten, etc) leader below the hook is illegal. I would have to find the technical reasoning given by the DNR, but essentially it boils down to this:

Bodies of water that connect to the Great Lakes recieve a run of salmon and trout (Steelhead, Chinook, etc). Many of these bodies of water are great bass fishing in the lower stretches. Years ago a very affect and legal method to catching Salmon and Trout species was snagging. Snagging is very effective when weight is on or below the hook. Now that snagging is illegal and "closely" watched, the whole drop-shot on such lakes is called into question.

Obviously my terminology, etc, is not perfect, but that is about the gist of it.
