New Custom Built Rod [pictures]
Well, Took me three days to finish this custom tied rod. I started from scratch with this rod, Assembled the cork, placed on the rod, fit the reel seat, tied on the guides, everything. This is about the highest quality rod that I could get, and boy I cannot wait to rip a fish on it. Won't be long.
This rod would sell for about $150 and I built it for just over $60, plus time and effort of course. Well worth it, in my opinion. 12' Custom Casting Steelhead Stick ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() And trust me, you don't want to be the fish looking at the end of this! ![]() |

The new fishing rod went on her maiden voyage today. Never hooked a Steelhead, but landed three stream trout. Water temperatures are just too cold, but the rod performed very well. Casted great, was light in the hand, and seem to be averall spectacular.

nice work,
looks clean, just curious who you use for blanks/supplies? al i know is mudhole, looking for other suppliers |
I have went through mudhole a few times before and still do at times.
Recently I met a guy with Patriot Custom Fishing Rods, which is a localized factory about an hour from my house. They actually build all of their custom blanks, cork, etc in their own personal shop. I now go almost always through them. |
I want to catch a brown trout sooooooo bad! Three more weeks!

Nice job! I built a flyrod way back in my younger years using a blank and caught quit a few fish with it back then. I can not remember where it was that I had order my blank out of though now. They had plenty of blanks to pick from and I still have plenty of thread left from it. Maybe sometime I will try and build a new rod with a blank again..
Again nice job and congrats on the browns. |
one of these days i want to buy a kit form mudhole and build a rod.
