Well most of mine are...

But this about this fish:s3:

Two of the biggest crappies I had ever seen, although this isn't a good pic, but they were in the 15-16" range!

Here's my personal best ..caught in 1990 ..held by Buffdmac { Matthew} at age 5..

Black Crappie was 16 inches long and 2 pounds even...

I never caught many crappie until I lived in Auburn (for college) and I caught a lot in the ponds there. This is my biggest and the rest of the catch one day. I cooked some southern style (aka-fried) and a friend in grad school with me from China made a chinese crappie soup

Thanks for the welcome. I live in Madison technically, but also work in Huntsville. So where are the good spots up here to fish? I only have a kayak. and War Eagle!

since you live in madison i'd concentrate on the creeks in the upper portion of wheeler lake, limestone creek, swan creek, cow ford, and on wheeler wildlife refuge i always enjoyed fishig blackwell swamp for pan fish....more later and maybe we can get together and fish guntersville....dd you fish eufaula much??????

mrl0004 02-07-2011 09:27 AM

That sounds like a plan. I haven't fished anything up here at all. Except Madison County Lake trout pond. Never fished Eufaula either. All my fishing has been when I was younger on the Choctawahatchee and Pea rivers back home in Geneva, and in Auburn in ponds that were available to us fisheries students. I mainly did saltwater down on Dauphin Island where I did my research. Tons of trout, flounder and reds! Thats what re-kindled my desire for freshwater where it all started!
