Everyone has scales here Johnny..and by the looks at the pictures..fish are honest.
I've got that same formula..but it's still an estimate..

i like the lenght and girth formulas, and is reasonble accurate, the ones i hate are the paper scales that determine a 21" fish weighs ___#__oz???, i have seen 3 pound 21 inch fish and i've seen 6+'s that were 21, the difference in a football and a bullet...jm2cfwiw...

Amen..Matt caught a 21 inch 7.1 two years ago..This year I caught a 24 incher..was a lousy 5 .8 pounds..

Like I said earlier, I had a 20 in. fish last weekend that weighed 2.37 lbs! dont feel bad about your lousy 5 lber now chuck lol. She had the bucket mouth but absolutely no body what so ever!
