What method do you use to dispatch them??? I've killed my share but have never taken them from pond to plate myself (always had an old uncle I gave them to). He insisted that hitting them in the nose with a hammer caused the least amount muscle-twitching/skinning-resistance. Of course he never got those kind from me...as I preferred a.22at a much safer distance:D

I kill mine by chopping off their heads. You use a frog gig or pitchfork and tease them into snapping at it and then you drive it thru their lower jaw and pin them to the ground. Then you (or preferably a helper) pull really hard on their tail and fully extend their neck and chop thru it right at the base of the skull with a meat cleaver or machete.
