Thanks for sharing brother,
It was slow here considering I spent 7 hours on the lake..I went out Sunday evening for 2 hours and boated 2..I was using a 10 inch Christmas Tree Gambler ribbon tail worm looking for the big one..I got a 2 pounder and a 1 1/2 pounder..on an 8 inch Gambler Imperial Blue.

With the full moon coming this Thursday I plan to hit Tues and Wed. evenings ..With only 2 hours to fish it's a tough call..cover alot of territory with a crank bait/ spinning bait or patiently bump a jig or worm..Tough call.[8D]Since they should be feeding..probably drag a trick worm and use a spinnerbait..

After some study and expereince it looks like the best time to fish is the few days before and on the New moon..

May 7th, i fished the Eel river here where i live in Indiana. Using a rebel crawfish, i caught 9 smallmouth in 2 hours. They are getting ready to spawn, they were all caught in a deep sand bar just off the main current. My biggest one went just over 2 pounds, i debated on entering it into the tourney but turned it loose in hopes for a bigger one. I caught several that went about 1 pound, then i had one hit that felt like a freight train, i fought him him for 2-3 minutes before he snapped my line[:@]. It was a nice fish. It was probably my own fault, my line was starting to get twist from my lure, i need to respool it before i go back out. Them big smallies can do a number on your line.

Question for any of you..

What kind of bottom do Largemouths like to spawn in?

That time of year will be here by the end of the month so I will soon be checking those areas out..
I know what kind of bottom smallmouths like to spawn but i have no idea on largemouths..Is it preety much the same?
