If your going artificial

Depends a little on the clarity of the water..
Clear..murky, tanic etc..

My number one bait..in the first early hour..
If your in a boat..I'd work a medium to small white weedless spinner bait along the shore..Fish love busting the shoreline early for baitfish..in my area it's those Gizzard Shad..I use this one.004

If the fish are easy and plentiful I'd switch to a top water for the bigger fish..
my favorites...a. black and gold floating rapala..5inch
b. white Heddon Torpedo
If the lake has cat tails...c. I'd be pitchin a dark 6 -7 inch rubber worm in heavy structure..forpretty much therest of the day..

If you happen to find some drop offs..I may experiment with a jig..but my over all lure would be a rubber worm with a BB split shot fished Texas Rig.
You can buyCulpret worms at Walmart..you may want to try a pack of Fire and Ice. Those are awesome..;)hoooked Texas style.

Lot's of questions;)

Will you be in a boat??

How much pressure does the lake get?

It would be niceto have a depth finder ..depth is very important..through my reading and experience bass seem to like 8-10 foot depths alot..you cn use your spinner bait as adepth finder..as..it hits the water count 1000, 2000 , 3000 etc. till it hits the bottom..that will give you a ball park range.

When is your spawn? this is when theyare more vulneralbe and move into the shallowsto lay their eggs..your local newspaper should be giiving you weekly information.

Clear water is tougher to fish..make long cast and I'd use the clear Trilene..Go to a local tackle shop and ask questions..they will have your best advice. Every area is different..I fish Florida much different than I did Washington D.C and Maryland..I also do my best to find low pressure places to fish..
Good luck partner.

This trip may not be that productive, but experiment around and find some spots that look good. Take in the scenery and look at other boats, watch what they do and learn future spots. A worm right now would be a good idea, as well as a suspending jerkbait or a soft plastic jerkbait worked fairly slow. Id reccomend a fluke to you or any suspending jerkbait. Try some crankbaits too. Id stick with mono for tomorrow, as I doubt you will do much flippin and pitchin and the clarity of the water.
