My Biggest Largemouth
 

I am an avid Largemouth Bass fisherman. I post many pictures here and frequently look at other threads. Yesterday I was looking through my archives of hard copy photos from before we new digital cameras existed and came across my only pictures I have left of my biggest Largemouth Bass. I have this fish mounted on the wall and love having the replica everyday. Sadly, all my other photos have disappeared and this picture isn't very good, but I figured it was in my best interest to photocopy it to have a back-up copy.

The Story:

The year of 2004 started off with a bang, my 14th birthday was in February. I caught many Northern Pike early in the season and the week before opening day of Largemouth Bass (Last Sat. in May), I scouted my favorite lake and marked a couple great fish on beds.

Opening morning produced many qualityfish and a couple of really special fish. I had an assortment of baits and lures, live and artificial that had been used throughout the day to catch fish. Finally I moved into an area in which I knew some quality fish were bedded. After covering the area with some artificial baits, I gave into a large bobber with a 4" shiner minnow on it.

I find that often times fish that are picky, and on beds get VERY irritated when a minnow repeatedly disrupts their bedding.

It paid off shortly after, and I landed her.

23 7/8 inches in length
15 2/8 inches in girth
6.4 pounds


This is from a Central Michigan Lake, so I know it doesn't match up to you Southern boys.
