Anyone here fish for Flatheads. Maybe around KS?
 

Just wondered if anyone out there had any good flathead stories to share. We fish the rivers in S.C. Kansas and regularly catch 20-40 pounders. Just looking for other success stories.

i just got hooked last summer...i was fishin for baby channels with worms and i got a bite..i had a circle hook on and figured it would get off like the rest...but that was my first sucsessful fish on circle hooks...beat the heck out of me and my rod and reel for about 8 minutes and i had a big rod and reel and 17lb test!! i get the fish near the shore(bank fishing) and it sees my lantern and takes off and splashes me..and old lady on a dock is laughing at me..i get him back and grab him...its a 28-30 inch flathead...my first flathead..nothing huge..pretty decint for our waters way up here in PA...now im hooked...im going to start fishing for them with big chubs and bluegills and try to get some of the big guys...i cant wait...that thing wasnt that big and fought like a monster...even little cats fight hard..i love catfishin...just wish there was more bigger ones up here..i cant wait to get after some big ones...

Now your talking my type of fishing.:D I don' t catch many, but I did get my personal best last summer. Have always fished from shore, but bought a new boat this year. Hope to have more luck.

Dog gone thats a fine one. We dont see too many quite that big in my area but i have started taking ventures a little farther from home every year. MAYBE this summer I can top 40# (My best).

Just wishing to go further east one day and fish the Mississippi or Ohio but cant complain because the World Record did come from KANSAS!!!!!!:D[:-] Go KS.

FYI: 123 lbs, Elk City Resivoir in SE Ks (Caught with Zebco 33 while fishing for Crappie, WOW)

HOLY CATFISH Batman..... you could put your head in that things mouth. He had to weight near 100 pounds at least unless you' re a little runt.;)

Well, I' m not that small, but not that big either.:D The fish was 49" long. We didn' t have a scale that would weight it, but we guessed between 55 & 60 lbs.
