Handheld GPS

A friend of mine wants a handheld Gps to use while fishing fresh water lakes and Florida flats. I use a Garmin 76 during my part time job of measuring crop land, have never used it for fishing or hunting.

Can y'all give some advice on what is a good unit for fishing. He wants one that's water proof, can be downloaded to his wifes' pc. Will tell him how fast he's moving when trolling, and if possible, can have programs added to it later. Also wants one that can be pluged into a cigarette liter to save on batteries, etc, etc,.

Any suggestions would be appreciated and I'll pass them on to him.

Thanks,
dog1

RE: Handheld GPS

I would concider the DeLorme Eartmate PN-20 or the PN-40, the PN-40 is new so not much about that one yet.. But for as far as the PN-20 goes you can load in depth maps to help you out.. There is alot you can do with them.. Here is some reviews if you wish to check them out..

Also some accessories that allows you to use the cigarette lighter if you want to purchase the kit. As well as a map libray that allows you to add in all the NOAA nautical maps you want..Good luck on what you or your friend decides on..
