My advice... save your money and buy one this winter or next spring. Wait for this year's models to go on sale. 70 dollars isn't going to get you much in the way of a baitcaster and rod that will a) work very well and b) hold up to much abuse.

I never used "Zebco", but I only use Quantum...made by Zebco.

The most overrated piece of fishing gear there is, is ANYTHING with the name Diawa on it Reels, Rods, Lures, it's all junk. Metal drives with plastic gears just don't mix.

I started out with a $40.00 baitcaster combo made by Zebco. Thats what I learned on. I broke about a year ago but at the time it was all I needed.

If your sold out on an inexpensive bait caster..Walmart no longer carries the MG 1310 Quantum but you can get a new one off of ebay for 40.00 I have 2 and they are great.I fish alot and both have lasted over 7 years..with no problems.

Here's the reel...I would only buy a new one...NEVER a used one ..
I'd put it on a 7 foot Lightning Rod..36.00 medium heavy..Walmart has them..
Ebay has 2 pages of these reels..DO NOT BUY A USED ONE.only new in package..

Here's a new one..http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-QUANTUM-1310MGC-BAITCASTING-REEL-1310-MGC-NIB_W0QQitemZ330234675197QQcmdZViewItem?_trksid=p3 286.m20.l1116

and the best low price baitcasting rod IMHO is Lightening Rod..Walmart has them in the 30 dollar range..Mine are over 20 years old..If your bass fishing with a rubber worm..get a 7 foot rod ...
