Jig Secrets

Is there some secret to jig fishing I'm missing, every outing this year I tried jigs, and haven't even had a bite, I’d go back and fish the same spot with a T/R worm and hook up. I did a lot of searches on here and other sites and tried to follow all the guide lines but with no success. Thanks Joe

Before you take any online advice it is helpful to know a few things. What state do you fish in? Water quality? Max depth/ Bottom contour? (aka is it a shallow bowl of a pond or do you actually have channels and drop offs and other bottom structure) Quality of Fish? (A lake full of runt bass and a big jig really won't be that effective) Major forage for the bass?

Here are some of my jig fish from this year. They were all caught on either a black an blue or green pumpkin jig, with a worm tail as the trailer. I believe the trailer is one of the largest aspects of the jig and most people just overlook it and go with the traditional trailers. Dont be afraid to switch it up and use random soft plastics as the trailer, just make sure it looks somewhat natural.

i agree with "what kind of water your fishin" if its gin clear water a smaller more subtle presentation will probably work better, if the water has some color you can probably get by with more, make sure the weed guard is in good shape and throw in right into cover, a jig bite can be very frustrating, sometimes it like running over a brick with a lawnmower[8D][:-]:D other times its like reeling in a wet sock[&:], and sometimes all you'll detect is some line movement[:o]...

don't give up on it, they do catch fish , usually good fish;)
