RE: What boat
Just last year i got a lund pro-v with a 150 horse merc. It could blow all yer boats out of the water. Also works great when it is windy and there those huge waves. Sure helps me get the walleyes.

RE: What boat
1998 Skeeter 176ZX w/ 130 hp Yamaha. I bought it new from the dealer in 2000. They were trying to get out of the bassboat market & it was just leftover stock. I got it for $9000 less than msrp. I' ve had mine up to 68mph, not quite at full throttle. Not sure why anyone would need a 200 or 250.

RE: What boat
I have a 14foot lowe boat that I built a front compartment area, then I installed a high swivel seat in the front. I put 3 other swivel seats in the rest of the boat. I have an electric trolling motor in the front and a small evinrude in the back. Looks like a small bass boat great for getting into tight spots. I would like to upgrade the evinrude the one I use is a little small, but runs good.

RE: What boat
Jeepnut, I`m not trying to rain on your parade, but a 135 won`t make a canoe run 68mph! Maybe according to the speedo, but not a GPS.
Look at the bright side, you can figure out your mileage in miles per gallon, not gallons per mile!:D |
RE: What boat
I' m not saying it' ll run 68 on any water at any time. The lake was like a sheet of glass that morning which obviuosly helped a little. And actually the speed was measured with my Garmin GPS. Speedo read around 64 mph.

RE: What boat
Bigcountry its a 130, not a 135, dont give that Yammie too much credit;) And it wasnt even at full throttle yet, probably get at least 80 mph out of it.
Jeepnut , just ras' n you man. But the reason people run 200, 250' s is because-- #1. The boat runs better at h.p' s maxed out #2. They arent running a 17' boat, usually a wee bit larger. #3. They can afford too. #4. And finally, like the question, " Why does a dog lick his butt?" Because he can! Good luck fishing boys, be safe- |
RE: What boat
Jeepnut, you have a good running boat, and I meant no offense.
I fish bass tourneys like crazy in my area, but I think only one skeeter ever fishs in any of them. They are not real plentiful in the northeast. They must have one heck of a fast hull design. Even 18' tritons with 175`s only run about 62-64mph on a good cool morning in my neck of the woods. Heck, my 20' ranger with a merc. 200efi will only run 68mph on a hot summer day with two guys and 50 gal of fuel, and it takes alot of boat to get by me. I fish only fish local tourneys, PA Federation tourneys, and KBBC right now, but my buddy keeps bugging me to try the BFL circuit so maybe I`ll run into you out in Ohio if I decide to try them. |
