RE: Boat Motor Review..

For little motors, have you ever tried an older 2-stroke Johnnyrude? Man those thing hum like a timex watch, and you cant kill them. I had a 1979 6-hp for a while when I had a 10' john and it was a fantastic little engine, light as a feather, and it started on the first pull everytime. If they are taken care of, a 2-stroke outboard will last forever, dont be afraid to try going vintage.

Thanks for the reply,

I just sold a 1953 Wizard so I know all about vintage..:D:DIt was good but I hate starting a motor in gear.[:o]..and the coil would cut off after 15 minutes of running. They are simple to work on but parts were nearly impossilbe to get..My dad had to make me a compression ring for it..which was perfect..He also had to sandblast the inside of the tamk to get out the crystlized gasoline..I made a carburator gasket for it and it ran for a long time..It still does as far as I know..I never heard of a Johnny rude..I've heard of an Evan Rude though;)

Have a great day partner,
C7

Chuck a johhny rude is a johnson or an evinrude, two in the same. I never did trust the Nissan or Briggs motors, but I love those lil tohatsu's they seem to be good.

I wrote a Nissan review for Cabelas yesterday..It's funny ..they didn't post it....that's why I posted it here..Nissan is supposed to be top notch..I've been very disappointed..It also started in gear twice which just about flipped over the boat..

I think cabela's reads the reviews first to look for foul language and other useless things before they put up a review. You might find your review up in a week or so.
