My son the fisherman :)
My 4 year old son is a heck of a little fisherman. He caught 7 fish yesterday, one of which was a 1 pound bass ( he called it a grandpa fish). We walked a good mile back into the woods to find a nice little creek. He was tough as could be and kept up the whole way. We saw 3 deer, a garter snake, and a turtle.
We fished right below a little waterfall. My son loved every minute of it. He caught his first fish on his 2nd birthday. He caught a bluegill all by himself that day. I was helping my daughter with her pole when I looked around and he was reeling in the fish all by himself, and then he pulled it up on the bank! I love that little guy. Brett |

Man I wish I had some pics guys--I took my son and daughter( she is 5) fishing today. They caught about 6 fish total, all bluegill and 1 perch. I brought a digital camera but the dang battery died instantly. I missed it! I am taking them again tomorrow morning with my wife so I will snap some then. Thanks guys. I remember my dad and I fishing all day long. We fished like crazy when I was a teenager, many times smallmouth and largemouth fishing 3-4 days a week for years. I really miss those times.

That's great VirginiaShadow....
You need a cheap digital camera to show us your memories. Here's my little boy (Jake) and his 1st fish... I did have to help him real it in!:) ![]() |
RE: My son the fisherman :)
Ed--thats an awesome pic! I took my two kids and wife down fishing at noon today( it was 90 degrees but they wanted to go)...we caught about 15 bluegill and the kids had a blast sitting in some of the still water of the creek to cool off. This is third time I took my son this week. He seems to be loving it more and more. Next week, it is off to try and catch my son a bass of 2 lbs or more to really break him in to fishing! I will get the camera working and show you all some shots of this little guy...and my daughter, she is a heck of a fisherwoman as well. My sons name is Jacob(Jack), yours too Ed?

My wife grew up in catholic schools and decided no biblical names, as all of her peers where??!! My only request was simple, something to do with hunting. I wanted Hunter, but my nephew already had that name. So I picked Gunner and my wife vetoed that, as she didn't want her mother to introduce her grand kids as, Hunter & Gunner, I see her point. So Jake it was! Off subject here - VS... I liked your post from the soap opera in the "bowhunting" section and understood it completely. I didn't take it any other way, than for him to stop asking the same question(s) "50 different way's from the sun". I encourage questions, but to go to the extent of provoking arguments or just not getting it at all, means he needs to step back and think about the questions he asks (if I'm making any sense). I usually look at the person's name who posts the thread before reading, it saves me a lot of frustration!!! Your alright VS and I'm glad someone else has the ballz to say it like it is. I usually speak my mind with a suttle joke on occasion, but sometimes it's like Forrest Gump Says "Stupid is, as stupid does" and that's why I read who starts the thread 1st!;) |
RE: My son the fisherman :)
Ed, thanks man, I appreciate it. Sometimes, someone who has seen things so many times can really help you out if you just listen....just listen you know. I'm glad on got on this forum. Fishing was my bread and butter when I was younger. I need to get back on the water and fish like I used to....but hey, life is good with two little ones and another on the way in 4 weeks. They really enjoy fishing with me and both can already swim, so I am thinking if I give them both lifejackets that we can start practicing on the canoe this summer on a small pond to just get used to being on the water.....fun!
