RE: spiderwire or power pro?
All depends ..what kind of structure is in the river?..if it's open water..I'd go 10 - pound momo..set the drag and have fun..
There seems to be 2 different types of Power Pro..the older kind was very similiar to Spider Wire I like the older kind..and neckto neck..I'd go with Power Pro...the new kind has a waxy residue on it..and it stinks..The smallest back lash will cost you the entire spool.I just got done cutting off 10 dollars worth...I replaced it with 14 pound Suffix. I haven't fished with Suffix yet but just got done making a few cast in the driveway. So far I'm pretty impressed. Lays nicely on the spool and not one backlash..I still keep a couple of spools of Power Pro 20 pound test for flipping and pitching in heavy cover on my spinning reels so I can store than for next year's spawn..I've now got mono on all my baitcasters..and spin casters. Summary..If your going to be bumping a rubber worm..I'd try the Suffix momo out . It's about $9.00 for 330 yds..10 pound should be fine..I diffently wouldn't go bigger than 12...I love Trilene XL Clear but not for bumping a worm..It has too much memory { The twirls in the line} Suffix is known to have very little memory.I think I'm going to like it..;) |
RE: spiderwire or power pro?
The only time I use mono is for crankbaits, when I need the extra stretch.
The only time I use braided (I like Stren's SuperBraid myself, and 60# PowerPro for muskie fishing) is for heavy cover. Everything else, 100% fluorocarbon. |
RE: spiderwire or power pro?
I've used all 3 braids ..They are very much alike..I liked Power Pro the best...but not their new stuff. I've notived my bites have tripled since I've used 10 pound mono...Here in FLorida with all the weeds there is a big chance of a break off but I'd rather get the bites .;)Garcia Revo has the best drag system I've ever used..It's incredible and does not stick up buy keeps a constant setting..
