trout fishing
#1

Im going to give trout fishing a try. I will be fishing rainbows and browns in a river. it was suggested that i use floating spawn sacs or small spinners. any suggestions for me. also will trout hit spawn sacs all year long? i was told they would but seem that they would find it odd to see them outside of the spawning season.

For the browns around here, you can't go wrong with a #9 gold floating rapala or a 2 3/4" Yo-Zuri Pins Minnow. A spinner does work, but the floaters are my favorite. I usually use spinners only in very dirty water, but try a bunch of things. The rainbows will hit almost any time, the browns are a little bit smarter. If you douse spinners, you can't go wrong with a #2 mepps. Good Luck.

I live relatively close to you, I'm in Michigan atleast. Most streams allow live-bait fishing, so I would try a half nightcrawler or leaf worm.
They work the best for me, but spinners have also worked on occasion.

I cannot say much about rainbows and browns as we do not have many places to fish for them up here. There is a lake not far from here with browns though that I might try sometime. It has had to get to access though. Mostly up here wild brookies and flies, worms, or just about any small lure like a daredevil or super duper works great. Good Luck to you on your fishing trip.
