Just stopping by for a moment!

Hi all just stopping in to hi for a moment, been working a lot of hours and fishing when I can.. It's been a slow season so far , but should be picking up shortly here. I was able to see a nice piebald deer the other day about a mile from the house. I also carried my canoe about a mile and a half through the deep Maine woods a few days ago. I wasn't able to catch any brookiesyet but it shouldn't be long.:)
Here is a few pics I took heading in.

The truck and my canoe..

What it's like as I get closer to the brook, and this brook holds some of the areas largest brookies..

Thanks Chuck!!, I thought of you when I was up in the dead water as there was this rock that looked like the head of a big gator sticking out of the water nose and all, here is the brook at last.:)

Another pic of the brook as it splits up and runs into different directions.

Into the dead waters at last!!! This deadwater runs for miles and the only real access to this area of the brook is the wayI went into it! Solitude like none other..

This little bird sat on this rock when I paddled up by and was still on it when I came back down so I took a pic of it.

Last pic here of a duck that decided to take to the land rather than the air as most wildlife in this area are not used to seeing people.. Sorry for so many pics on different pages my friends, I still do not know how to hook them all together like so many others do. I was able to catch 2 smallmouths down below the deadwater that was roughly 2 pounders. They didn't give much of a fight as the water is still quite cold here. On the way out I was able to see 3 bear cubs in a pine tree as well. I tried to get a pic of them to share but they didn't come out very good as there was not enough light for the pic. I hope all has been doing well out there and enjoying the great outdoors..;)

Is that a Green Winged Teal?? What kind of bird is the other one with a white eye ring?/
Thanks,
C7

This one below..I could not find it in my Eastern Bird book..It looks like a type of sandpiper..

I am not real sure what kind of duck it was to be truthfull, It was a little large for a green wing teal. At first i thought it was a mallard. As I got closer i could tell it wasn't so that is one duck i will have find out what it is. The little bird on the rock is some kind of a snipe and should have been in the mud. I was kind of surprised by the way it just sat there on the rock and I never botherd it at all as I paddled by it. I was quite shocked to see it still setting there whenI came back down. It looked as though it was lost just sitting there like that. But, as stated above they really do not see to many people in this area. WhereIput my canoe in near the ripps is a big island called Black Cat Island and the ripps run on both sides of it. Brookies have come out of there up to 4 pounds and I always wanted to try and fish it. I left my canoe hidden up there and will go back in as soon asI can get a chance as i am hoping to catch one of those large brook trout.

Nice to see you back even for a brief moment Phil. I have been doing a little turkey hunting and a lot of work around the house. I built a new flower bed wall and sidewalk at the house and got some of my garden planted. I put in the dock and lift but the boat is still under the cover. I had to replace my trolling motor this year and need to get that mounted before I fish. I hope the holes line up but I doubt that will happen since the old motor was 15 years old. Stay in touch and good fishing for those monster squaretails....Frank

Thanks guys, I hope you have had some good luck with the turkeys C.I. We have a few showing up here as they have a big stocking program going on up this way. Other than that I would have to travel quite a ways to hunt for them.

Chuck, the answer is a greenwing teal however it was a large one about the size of a black duck..

Bownut you are correct after looking it up it is in fact a Solitary Sandpiper..

Here is a pic of the piebald deer I have been seeing. However it did not give me a very good pic as it saw me. The pic of it as it was walking away. The minute the flash went off it run into the woods.
