RE: for the tournament
Nice fish... did you say that was a spot? I've not caught a lot of spots in my life but that really looks like your run of the mill bucketmouth to me!
|
RE: for the tournament
Great fish, congrats!!
|
RE: for the tournament
no, i was asking if it was a spot. it had a smaller mouth than the typical largemouth but too small for a bucket. also the side of the fish has spots.
|
RE: for the tournament
Here is a decent link about differing between the 2. I also have seen people say that the spotted bass's dorsal fins arecloser togetherto seem like they are one fin while the largemouth has 2 almost completely seperate fins. I really don't know but if it is a spotted bass you missed your state record by like an oz. If it is a farm pond fish then I say largemouth but if it is a big water fish then I haven't a clue but I still think it looks like a bucketmouth. (granted i have never seen an 8lb spot)

ORIGINAL: JoshKeller Looks like a Florida strain largemouth to me. Well I think I learned something here then? I never knew they changed in color from different parts of the country? It is DARKER then usual isnt it? I can be wrong here? |
RE: for the tournament
alright the color depends on the diet. also fish that live deep will be lighter colored and fish that stay less deep with be darker. ;)
|
RE: for the tournament
either way good fish
|
RE: for the tournament
great fish;)WTG, i also say largemouth, a spots jaw will stop even with the eye and a largemouths extends past the eye, the dorsal fin is also like one single fin, the largemouths almost look like two seperate fins, and a spot will have "teeth" on its tounge, as far as color, lot of things affect color, depth, water clarity, temp, and even stress, try catching a smallie put him in a livewell in 30min-1 hour thechange in color and pattern will be amazing.
|
RE: for the tournament
yup but she sure had a mouthful of some mean teeth

RE: for the tournament
m.t.hands....yes, that is at Fork.I do mak the yearly trip, my son lives there in Emory, so it's a good reason to make the trip as much as possible. It's not as good as it was in the early to mid 90's but there are still plenty of 6-10 pound fish in there. take care, Keith |
