RE: PA's Trout Opener-new record

Where in PA is this? I live by Pittsburgh and would love to fish for those big fish? Thanks, PAHUNTER1981
Lehigh County...Allentown to be more exact. Both streams start Northwest of town and flow into it before eventually emptying into the Lehigh river.

Question - and I don't mean to be a PITA by asking this because I fish for stockies too.

Should a fish stocked just a few days ago be counted as a record?
Good question and I one I have seen mentioned several times since I posted this on a few forums. I am not sure where you are from Tom but Pennsylvania has a fairly limited wild trout population (all things considered). Almost all of the trout normally caught in the state, especially over the first few weeks, are state stocked fish.

I do find the idea interesting though. Just as an example, if a fish is stocked one year and then not caught for 4 or 5 years then could it be considered a record? Could a stocked fish ever be considered a record?

I don't have an answer.

Have always been a bit uneasy about brood fish being recordsand would rather catch a smaller wild fish.

Sure would be fun catching a fish like that on my brookie set up though.
