how the heck do you catch grass carp?!?!?!?!??!
 

My neighbor has a small farm pond that I go fishing in almost every day in the summer. They have bluegill, bass, catfish, and grass carp in the pond. I have caught everything in their except a grass carp. In the hot days of summer they just float around the top and they are huge. I really want to catch one of these monsters but I do not know how. Any help would be great. If you want any more info just ask me.

A guy told me one time to use a dandilion for bait, he said it worked but I never tried it. I'd bowfish too

I caught one once on a dead grasshopper. Almost had a stroke getting it in on a super ultralite though!

i dont have a bowfisher. i mean like aint there any strategies to catch them?

the only thing i can think of for THings like grass Carp and Gar too,
i havent done this since i was a kid, but, heres you a technique

tie on a Jerk-Bait ...A jerk bait is a lure just like a Crankbait but fished with a different technique,(its a floating shallow runnerthats long and skinny, that you fish by Jerkin the rod tip and then letting the lure float to the top while realing in slack line and let it sit on top for a secondrepeatedly)use a jerkbait with 3 trebles two is ok tho(and no rattles).... castpast the Carp as far as you think is necesarry not to spook him when the bait hits the water....Reel up as slow and quietly as you can...then when you get just behind the fish with your lure RIP the rod hard and Fast and snag the mofo....Fight on.

Also some Jerkbaits suspend(or float very slowly), youd want to make sure you get one that floats at a quicker rate. you cant really use a regular shorter crankbait because they dive at too sharp of an angle wich makes it tuffer to get the hooks in the fish....

im surprized that woever stocked the pond put the carp in it.....i would think that they would want them out.

they put the carp in to get rid of algae. is there a way i can catch the carp just like using an easier technique???

LOL Its fishing...its not supposed to be easy.

are you trying to say you want to hook him in the lips instead of snagging.

snagging is pretty easy and probably easier then figuring out what the picky suckers like to eat. ive never caught a "Grass carp" without snagging or Bowfishing so i dont know how to "catch one" besides that.

yeah a way to catch them besides snagging. i want to catch and release so i dont want to rip em up to bad.
so any other ideas to hook them on the lip?????????????????????????????????
