Default Fishing Gear Review? / Baitcasting Reels?

Alright, I was searching our wide-variety of forums and realized we have a hunting gear forum, but no fising gear forum. My reasoning for needing a fishing gear review is about baitcasting reels. I am not made of money, so the quality I would be buying wouldn't be great. Anyone have thoughts on baitcasting reels? Thanks fellas!

A problem I am having is that the internet reviews on the shopping sites (ie bass pro and cabelas) are all good, so I do not know if they really are customers or not.

PS. Moderators could setup a fishing gear review too!

I like Walmart..because I can take it back .

Last year I bought 2 Pennacles..don't buy them JUNK

Walmart used to sell a MG1310 Quantum for 57.00 very good reel..no easy backlashes..mine is still fine.
For the 50.00 bracket..I'd stick with Quantum..

For the 100.00 bracket..Garcia puts out a Revo ..I just bought one..so far it's pretty darn good..But if I had to do it again..I'd buy another MG1310 off of ebay..mine is 7 years old and I fish alot..still tight and have had no work on it..

here's one..I may bid on it..http://cgi.ebay.com/Quantum-1310-MG_...QQcmdZViewItem

Right now ebay has a 1310 MGC Quantum NEW IN BOX for 38.00 and 6.00 shipping..They are only 5.7 I think ratio..which is ok for a worm rod but not ok for an inline spinner bait..If you don't want it let me know..Iwill get it.for me..It's a buy it now...My best part about it..hardly ever a backlash...and it lasts and last ..this one is still in the box.

If it's there tomorrow night I'm getting it..

Thanks Chuck, I will prolly have to go to Bangor to find a 7 foot rod as they do not have them here..I have a baitcaster but have never gottent the hang of it with a 6 foot rod. Maybe that is why?, not sure though but since I have a real why not try another rod..

When I first came here I had been missing alot of bass trying to set the hook with a rubber worm..Josh encouraged me to step up to a 7 foot rod instead of the 6 foot.BUT like you said..our local stores didn't carry them either..Well, one Walmart started carrying 7 foot Team Diawas..I bought 3 ..Also, at a garge sale I bought a like new Fenwick Legend 7 footer baitcasting rod as well for 7.00. RETAILS for 60.00The extra leverage helps with hook sets..and I lose a lot less now..and my cast are longer.

They are also much better for pitching { Where you strip off about 25 foot of line or so and make underhand tosses to the shorel line} When spawning starts ..this is all I do..
