Northern Pike
 

I'll be fishing in Kenora Canada in the last week of May, can anyone give tips or techniques on catching Northern Pike. Such as best lures and colors or anything else would be appreciated.

Dr. Spoons, the ever popular daredevil.....spoons in general. I like the large muskie in line spinners.

Basserman is right about spoons.I like the 5 of diamonds(they love eating perch) or a pearl coloured spoon (looks like suckers, whitefish) when jerk and flutter or verticle jigged they are hard to beat

spoons work great.aslo try the large silver rapala husky jerks.they just kill the pike. mepps bucktails too.

Im going to Perch Bay Resort. I went 2 years ago and didnt have very good luck with fishing, but the weather was great, never really got too cold and only rained for a few hours

We use big sucker chubs, creek chubs, or shinners covered in pickling salt and then frozen. Then we put them on a slip bobber rig. We also troll along shore and throw Husky Jerks. But most of our fish is caught on the pickled minnows and a slip bobber rig. But I ahve to say that the biggest fish we've caught in that area is verticl jigging for walleye's with minnows prepared in the same way as the chubs.

Try the big spoons with the smaller rattler spoons attached to them !!!!

Spoons (5 o diamonds, red devils, williams woblers silver/blue), Mepps spinners #4 or 5 (Firetigger, silver, gold...have some with trailers to if they are aggressive), cranks (husky jerk, countdown, fat rap - silver and silver combo's) and 4&quot; grubs(chart., white) and 1/2-3/4 jig heads. Top water will probably no good then, but if a warm spring and water temp. allow try Zara Spooks(firetiger or silver), buzz baits maybe or poppers. If really cool, then dead line it with smelts and a bobber about a foot of the bottom can be deadily on big northern in warming or post spawning bays and shorelines.

ahh yes the perch bay area,,,,
spinnerbaits,,, husky jerks,, buzzbaits,,,red devils (iguess)
i fish that are about 60 days during open water so i fish it quite a bit
