I wouldn't keep to many big bluegills though in a small pond as it can hurt the fishery. Some advice to you is that in smaller bodies of water that have big bluegill usually have larger than average bass. The reasoning behind this is that the bass are doing a good job eating the younger bluegills causing competition for food to decrease allowing the survivors to grow faster. I would give bass fishing a try and see what you can come up with.

yeah like i said indiana we fished it for bass a bit and the largest we came up with was 17" which still isn't that bad of a fish. we had loads of fun catching them on hula poppers because they just couldn't resist and we'd get a bass nearly every cast. im sure there are bigger bass in there because the pond is so large and there are parts where we havn't been able to fish (i.e the deeper areas).
theres another pond just up the road that produces a large amount of Northern Pike, another one that is full of huge 16" crappies and another that has huge 22" largemouth. there are lots of ponds around here and my friends and i do better within 1 mile of our house then we do on the closest lake!
by the way, all fish we caught including bluegills were released due to the fact that the owners dont want the fish taken out.

awesome! this year when i was catfishing around noon. i caught a 1.2lb bream and then right after that i hooked and landed a 8lb channel cat. then later i went to another spot and hooked a 2 pound bream. i thought i had another cat until i got it in. man that thing fought much better than a largemouth. i wanted to get it mounted but my parents wouldnt let me. i was so mad. so then i let it go.
but congrats on the fish. how much did it weigh?
